Get Psychological Support After a Workplace Incident
If you've been injured or psychologically affected at work, you may be eligible for funded therapy through your state or territory's workers compensation scheme. Here's how to get started:
Notify your employer of the injury or psychological harm and see your GP as soon as possible. Your doctor can assess your condition and provide a Work Capacity Certificate and a referral to a mental health provider if needed.
Your employer or insurer will assist in lodging a formal claim. Once accepted, psychological treatment can be included as part of your recovery plan, and treatment costs may be covered.
You can work with a Clinical or Registered Psychologist, Counsellor, or Psychotherapist depending on your needs and what your insurer approves. Our directory includes professionals familiar with workers compensation processes.
Treatment can begin once insurer approval is obtained. For some states, up to 6 early psychological intervention sessions may be pre-approved before the claim is fully processed.
