My name is Jacob and I am a Clinical Psychologist in Sydney. Alongside Wattle, my therapy dog, we are Heart and Hound Psychology. I grew up in regional NSW and moved to Wollongong in 2016 before moving to Sydney in 2021. I have loved living in Sydney, but one aspect I noticed is that many people wish they had dogs but cannot get access to them living in the city. This is why I started Heart and Hound psychology, to offer a unique experience to still have contact with a dog while in a therapy context.
I am currently completing my doctorate investigating ways to better assist people that have been the victims of scams too.

Philosophy and Vision

Going to therapy is a little like getting in a taxi, you have the destination in mind but every therapist has their own route to get there. I like to develop a collaborative route to help you get to where you want to be. I believe in thinking outside of the box, while utilising tried and tested methods.

Quality Provision

I am a small clinic, and I intend to keep it so. I offer a bespoke experience, ensuring that the therapy you experience is customised for your needs, goals, and life circumstances. By limiting the amount of clients I see I ensure that I bring the energy and attention to each of my clients.

Therapy Approach

I like to tailor the therapeutic experience to each person. I utilise a range of different clinical modalities depending on your unique circumstances. I utilise elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, VR assisted therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy and more.
