Hello, I'm Gayle Dolgoy, counsellor and founder of Calm Within Counselling.
I provide online counselling across Australia and support women experiencing grief and loss, burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity loss, and major life transitions. Many of the women I work with are carrying the demands of work, family, relationships, and caring for others, often feeling disconnected from themselves along the way.
With over 28 years of experience supporting people through challenges, change, and personal growth, I understand how overwhelming life can feel during periods of loss, uncertainty, and transition. My approach is warm, calm, and supportive, creating a safe space where clients can slow down, feel heard, and openly explore what they are experiencing without judgement.
Together, we work towards greater clarity, emotional wellbeing, and a stronger sense of connection with yourself and what matters most. I also support couples experiencing communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, and relationship strain.
I believe that difficult experiences can shape us, but they do not have to define us. Every person's story matters, and meaningful change begins when we feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each individual. I aim to create a calm, supportive space where clients feel emotionally safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgement or pressure. I believe counselling should move at a pace that feels manageable and respectful, honouring each person's unique strengths, values, and goals.
My vision is to support women experiencing grief, burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity loss, and major life transitions to reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, and build a greater sense of emotional wellbeing. I also support couples to strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and rebuild connection.
Counselling is a journey we take together—one that helps you feel more grounded, connected, and confident as you navigate life's challenges.
I am committed to providing counselling that is professional, ethical, and client-centred. I strive to create a calm, supportive, and non-judgemental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and emotionally safe. As a registered Level 2 member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), I adhere to recognised professional and ethical standards, including confidentiality and respectful, client-centred care. My practice is grounded in evidence-based principles and informed by ongoing professional development, ensuring that the support I provide is responsive to each client's unique needs, experiences, and goals. Through accessible online counselling, I aim to provide flexible support that helps clients build emotional wellbeing, resilience, and lasting change.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each person's unique needs and experiences. I focus on creating a safe and supportive relationship where clients feel heard, understood, and able to explore challenges without judgement. I work with women experiencing grief and loss, burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity loss, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions, helping them reconnect with themselves and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
My practice draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, person-centred counselling, and trauma-informed practice. These approaches support clients to develop practical coping strategies, strengthen emotional regulation, build self-awareness, and navigate change in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
I also work with couples experiencing communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, conflict, and relationship strain. Having completed Gottman Method Level 1 training, I draw on Gottman principles alongside Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) concepts to help couples strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and rebuild connection.
Regardless of what brings you to counselling, I aim to create a calm and supportive space where we can work together at a pace that feels right for you.
