Dr Tammy Tempelhof is a registered Clinical Psychologist, Board-approved Supervisor and Clinic Director who completed her Doctor of Psychology at Monash University in 2006. Over the past 20 years in private practice, she has built extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents across a range of settings. Tammy has a particular interest in helping children manage anxiety and behavioural issues, and has supported families through a broad spectrum of emotional and behavioural concerns, including anxiety, depression, eating difficulties, social difficulties and school or academic struggles. In collaboration with a Child Psychiatrist, she has co-published 17 personalised photo story books designed to help children experiencing anxiety navigate new and unfamiliar experiences.
Tammy believes that meaningful change happens when therapy is tailored to the individual rather than applied as a one-size-fits-all process. As a parent herself, she places real value on working collaboratively with families, providing practical, supportive strategies that parents can use at home, not just in the therapy room. Her approach is grounded in helping children and families build genuine confidence and resilience when facing anxiety, behavioural challenges and life's transitions, rather than simply managing symptoms in isolation. This is reflected in her work co-creating personalised photo story books, a vision for therapy that meets children where they are and helps them feel prepared, rather than overwhelmed, by new experiences.
With two decades of private practice experience and a doctorate from Monash University, Tammy brings a high standard of clinical rigour to her work as Clinic Director. As a Board-approved supervisor, she also plays a role in mentoring and upholding standards among emerging psychologists, contributing to the quality of care delivered more broadly within the profession. Her clinical experience spans a wide range of emotional and behavioural presentations, allowing her to provide informed, evidence-based support across diverse client needs, from early childhood through to adolescence and parenting concerns.
Tammy draws on a range of evidence-based treatment models, individually tailored to each client, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and Play Therapy. Rather than applying a single fixed method, she selects and blends these approaches based on the specific needs of the child, young person or family in front of her. Her work with parents focuses on practical, supportive strategies that complement the therapeutic work happening directly with children, creating a more joined-up approach to treatment within the family system.
